Greece battles wildfires near Megara, while Malta's Fenech trial continues and Croatia outlines wage targets alongside high news avoidance rates.
Emergency crews in Greece continued combating a major wildfire west of Athens near Megara on Sunday, deploying ground units, aircraft, and military support across the Kitheronas mountain range.
In Malta, testimony proceeded in the trial of Yorgen Fenech, accused of masterminding the 2017 assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. Jurors heard from her son, who testified that she was investigating high-level government corruption involving Fenech prior to the fatal car bombing.
In Croatia, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković reaffirmed targets to increase the average monthly net wage to €1,600 by 2028, with minimum wage discussions scheduled for October. Meanwhile, findings from the Reuters Institute highlighted that 63 percent of Croatians regularly avoid news, ranking among the highest rates globally.
