U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism about a deal on the Strait of Hormuz as Iran and Oman continue talks amid broader regional security concerns.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached within days, noting that "great progress has been made" during ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding safe maritime traffic. While Washington acknowledged advancements in the diplomatic discussions, officials emphasized that a final accord has not yet been formalized.

Simultaneously, regional tensions remain acute. Iran warned that any new American military strikes against its facilities would prompt retaliatory attacks on energy infrastructure across Persian Gulf nations, leading Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to engage in urgent consultations with Saudi Arabian counterparts. In other regional developments, an Indian vessel was reportedly struck and sunk near Yemen, while Israeli and Lebanese representatives initiated a seventh round of talks in Rome as roughly 800,000 displaced civilians continue returning to southern Lebanon.
