Ukraine reports air defense missile shortages as EU transfers €1.4 billion in frozen asset funds
Ukraine reports a steep decline in air defense interceptor deliveries while meeting EU negotiation criteria and receiving €1.4 billion in frozen Russian asset proceeds.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that deliveries of crucial air defense interceptor missiles have dropped to one-third of 2025 levels. The shortage comes amid intensified Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv and strategic southern ports. Zelensky discussed securing additional interceptors during talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Concurrently, Zelensky announced that Ukraine has fulfilled all required conditions to open four additional negotiation clusters for European Union accession. In terms of financial support, the EU transferred €1.4 billion to Ukraine, representing the fifth installment derived from interest profits on frozen Russian Central Bank assets from the first half of 2026.
