US, Iran and Oman near temporary deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz
The US, Iran, and Oman are reportedly nearing a 60-day temporary agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
Negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz have reportedly made significant progress, with the United States, Iran, and Oman closing in on a temporary framework. According to reports citing regional and diplomatic sources, the proposed arrangement could establish a 60-day window to restore maritime traffic through the vital waterway.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that discussions with Oman were "professional" and "moving forward," adding that a deal would be finalized provided "third parties do not prevent the process." While regional media outlets reported that an official announcement on reopening the strait could occur imminently, Iranian authorities have not yet formally confirmed a final consensus, and negotiations remain ongoing.
