A co-production deal between the US and Ukraine for Patriot missile interceptors is unlikely before winter, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.

A bilateral agreement between Washington and Kyiv to co-produce Patriot air defence interceptor missiles will not be concluded before the coming winter, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Whitaker stated that while collaborative initiatives to manufacture air defence hardware alongside Ukraine and European allies are progressing, finalising a long-term production framework for the advanced missile interceptors requires additional time. Washington remains cautious regarding the transfer and joint manufacturing of sensitive missile technology as discussions continue.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly urged Western partners to accelerate air defence deliveries and establish domestic manufacturing capabilities to shield critical energy infrastructure and population centres ahead of anticipated seasonal strikes.
