US-Ukraine Patriot co-production deal delayed as drone strikes hit Russian warehouses
A US-Ukraine agreement on joint Patriot missile production is delayed past winter, as Ukrainian drones strike Russian logistics warehouses near Moscow.
A proposed bilateral agreement between the United States and Ukraine on the joint manufacture of Patriot interceptor missiles will not be concluded before the upcoming winter, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker. Speaking in a television interview, Whitaker indicated that while the specialized Patriot project remains a longer-term effort, collaborative initiatives to produce other air defense systems alongside European partners continue.
Concurrently, Ukrainian drone strikes hit commercial logistics facilities across western Russia overnight, targeting warehouses operated by the online retailer Wildberries in the Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Tver regions. Moscow Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported that a strike near the capital killed at least five people and injured ten others, amid broader claims of aerial interceptions by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
