The US Supreme Court has allowed third-country deportations to proceed as a media investigation revealed over 25,000 migrants were sent to non-native nations under secret agreements.

The United States Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to temporarily continue deporting migrants to third countries while judges evaluate the policy's legality. The ruling coincides with an international investigative report led by Forbidden Stories, which revealed that at least 25,447 individuals were transferred to 28 non-native nations under confidential bilateral agreements.

According to internal State Department documents and interviews, approximately 20,000 migrants were transported by bus to Mexico, while over 5,000 were flown to unfamiliar nations. The investigation noted that several deportees had previously received formal recognition that their lives would be threatened in their home countries.

Following the disclosures, more than a dozen United Nations human rights experts urged Washington to immediately suspend the practice, warning that deportees face heightened risks of torture and persecution in unfamiliar jurisdictions.
