The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed expedited third-country deportations to continue while UN experts urge an immediate halt over human rights concerns.

The U.S. Supreme Court has permitted the Trump administration to temporarily continue expedited deportations of asylum seekers to third countries while judges assess the policy's legality. The ruling allows removals to proceed despite an international investigation led by Forbidden Stories, which revealed that at least 25,447 migrants were transferred to 28 non-native countries under confidential agreements, including over 20,000 sent by bus to Mexico and more than 5,000 flown overseas.

More than a dozen United Nations human rights experts have called on Washington to immediately halt the practice, warning that deportees face heightened risks of torture, abuse, and persecution in nations where they lack ties.
