US Patriot missile deal with Ukraine delayed past winter, envoy says
A long-term US-Ukraine deal to co-produce Patriot interceptors will not be finalized before winter, according to US NATO Ambassador Matthew Whitaker.
A long-term agreement between the United States and Ukraine for the joint production of Patriot air defense interceptors will not be finalized before this winter, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Whitaker confirmed that while the complex Patriot deal faces delays, active discussions and joint efforts regarding the co-production of other air defense systems involving Ukraine and European allies are ongoing. Kyiv has repeatedly sought to expand defense manufacturing partnerships with Western allies to strengthen its air shield ahead of anticipated Russian strikes against energy infrastructure during the colder months.
While Patriot missile manufacturing will not begin in the immediate term, Washington maintains its focus on collaborative security initiatives to reinforce Ukrainian defense capabilities.
