US charges five alleged Russian operatives over global murder plots
US authorities have charged five Russian agents over alleged assassination plots in Europe and North America, while Denmark reports Russian sabotage against defense firms.
United States prosecutors have unsealed charges against five suspected Russian intelligence agents accused of orchestrating a global network focused on sabotage and targeted assassinations. According to the Department of Justice, the suspects paid or offered payment to operatives in North America and Europe to surveil and attack individuals supporting Ukraine. The allegations include a June 2024 strike in Prague and planned killings inside the United States. All five accused individuals remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service stated that Russia conducted targeted sabotage operations against Danish defense contractors supplying military hardware to Ukraine. Danish officials identified these actions as a significant expansion of Russian hybrid warfare efforts against Western allies.
