US charges five alleged Russian agents over global targeted assassination plot
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents over assassination plots targeting Ukraine allies, while a German court convicted a man in a related parcel bomb scheme.
United States federal prosecutors have unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with directing targeted assassinations and sabotage across Europe and North America. According to law enforcement, the network recruited operatives internationally to monitor and attack key supporters of Ukraine, including a June 2024 operation in Prague. The suspects remain at large.
Separately, a regional court in Stuttgart, Germany, convicted a Ukrainian citizen over a parcel bomb plot linked to Russian intelligence. Authorities said the scheme involved shipping packages with GPS trackers from Germany to Ukraine to disrupt public safety.
