US charges five alleged Russian agents over global assassination plots
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents over global plots targeting allies of Ukraine, while Denmark reported Russian sabotage against defense suppliers.
The United States Department of Justice has unsealed indictments charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with orchestrating assassination plots and sabotage campaigns targeting allies of Ukraine across Europe and North America.
According to court documents unsealed in Manhattan, the network attempted to pay recruits to surveil and eliminate individuals "aligned, or perceived to be aligned, with Ukraine," including a June 2024 operation in Prague. All five defendants remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service announced that Russian agents conducted targeted sabotage against Danish defense manufacturers supplying Kyiv, describing the actions as an escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy.
