US charges five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots
US prosecutors unseal charges against five Russian intelligence agents while Danish officials report physical sabotage targeting defense suppliers.
US federal prosecutors in Manhattan have unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with conspiring to execute assassinations and sabotage in the United States and Europe. Authorities state the Kremlin-backed network recruited and financed local proxies to conduct surveillance and carry out attacks against individuals and entities supporting Ukraine, including a June 2024 incident in Prague. All five suspects currently remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark’s Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian actors conducted direct physical sabotage against domestic defense companies producing military supplies for Kyiv. Danish officials described the operations as an escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy designed to undermine Western support for Ukraine.
