US charges alleged Russian operatives while German court convicts parcel bomb conspirator
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents over global plots, while a German court convicted a Ukrainian national over a parcel bomb scheme.
United States federal prosecutors have unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives for managing a global sabotage and assassination network. According to court filings from Manhattan, the individuals paid operatives to conduct surveillance and execute attacks against supporters of Ukraine in Europe and North America, including a June 2024 assault in Prague. All five defendants remain at large.
Simultaneously, a regional court in Stuttgart, Germany, convicted a Ukrainian national involved in a Russian state-backed parcel bomb scheme. Authorities determined that the individual, along with two accomplices, shipped packages containing explosives and tracking equipment across European logistics routes to disrupt public safety. Western law enforcement agencies are continuing investigations into related covert activities linked to Russian intelligence services.
