Tensions escalate after US strikes on Bandar Abbas and Sirik, with both Washington and Tehran trading threats alongside references to possible diplomacy.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following direct US military strikes targeting Iranian positions in Bandar Abbas and Sirik, marking the first direct engagement between the two nations in a month. US President Donald Trump warned of further military action should Tehran retaliate, asserting that Iranian officials are "begging" for a diplomatic agreement with the United States.

In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran does not seek a wider conflict, while cautioning that his country will "decisively respond to aggressors." Iranian naval authorities simultaneously rejected claims of widespread damage to maritime infrastructure, asserting that southern coastal defense forces remain fully operational. Despite the intensifying rhetoric, both governments have left open the possibility of future diplomatic negotiations.
