A Wall Street Journal investigation details US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle's role in facilitating a $6 billion gas deal between Greek firm Aktor and Albania.

An investigation by The Wall Street Journal has brought increased scrutiny to US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle over her involvement in securing a major energy agreement in South-Eastern Europe. According to regional reports citing the investigation, Guilfoyle traveled to Tirana in March alongside lobbyist Christos Marafatsos and executives from the Greek energy firm Aktor. During the visit, she met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

One month after the initial high-level meeting, Guilfoyle returned to the Albanian capital for the formal signing of a $6 billion deal to supply the nation with gas. The revelations have raised broader questions regarding the intersection of official American diplomatic advocacy, corporate lobbying, and expanding Greek energy interests across the Balkans.
