Valerii Zaluzhnyi expressed skepticism over Ukraine's NATO prospects, advocating alternative security alliances amid leadership reshuffles in Kyiv.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief, expressed strong skepticism regarding Ukraine's prospects of joining NATO. Speaking at an ambassadorial conference in Kyiv, Zaluzhnyi stated that he no longer believes Ukraine will enter the alliance after listening to "tales" about accession for 12 years, advocating instead for alternative security alliances.

The development coincides with political reshuffles in Kyiv, where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reassigned Rustem Umerov to head the Foreign Intelligence Service and named Ihor Klymenko as secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry urged French media to remain vigilant regarding statements by former presidential spokesperson Yulia Mendel, calling her remarks manipulative.
