Ukraine is procuring domestic glide bomb kits and developing ballistic missiles to offset shortages of Western air defense systems.

Ukraine is turning to domestic defense solutions to address acute shortages of air defense systems and precision munitions following heavy Russian ballistic missile attacks. President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged that obtaining U.S. licensing to manufacture Patriot interceptors locally could take up to several years due to regulatory delays. Furthermore, while two Ukrainian companies are working on indigenous ballistic missiles, technological hurdles prohibit rapid deployment.

To address immediate capability gaps, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are procuring the newly tested "Equalizer" glide bomb module. Developed by DG Industry alongside the Brave1 cluster, the system equips unguided bombs with guidance systems and wings. Compatible with Soviet-era aircraft and Western platforms, the kit aims to diminish Kyiv's dependence on foreign military supplies.
