Ukraine is expanding domestic arms production, including glide bomb kits and ballistic missiles, while facing multi-year delays in manufacturing Patriot air defense systems locally.

Ukraine is accelerating efforts to enhance its domestic arms production and air defense capabilities amid intensified Russian ballistic missile strikes on critical infrastructure. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, establishing domestic manufacturing of U.S.-designed Patriot air defense systems under licensing agreements could take between 12 months and several years due to regulatory and technical delays.

To mitigate immediate capability gaps during this multi-year period, Ukrainian forces are procuring locally developed military technology, including the "Equalizer" precision glide bomb module. Developed by DG Industry with the Brave1 innovation cluster, the kit converts standard unguided bombs into precision weapons for Soviet-era and Western aircraft. Simultaneously, two Ukrainian defense enterprises are advancing domestic ballistic missile projects to target deep positions, though technical hurdles continue to delay mass production.
