Ukraine is developing indigenous ballistic missiles and glide bomb technology as U.S. licensing delays hamper local Patriot air defense production.

Ukraine is seeking to bridge critical air defense gaps caused by administrative delays in securing U.S. licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems locally. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that establishing domestic assembly could take up to several years, leaving the country exposed to intensified Russian ballistic missile strikes.

To counter current weapon shortfalls, Ukrainian forces are adopting domestically developed military technology, including the "Equalizer" precision glide bomb kit created by DG Industry and the Brave1 innovation cluster. The module converts conventional unguided bombs into high-precision, long-range munitions compatible with both Soviet-era aircraft and modern Western jets. Additionally, two Ukrainian defense firms are actively developing indigenous ballistic missiles capable of striking long-range targets inside Russia, though technical obstacles must be resolved before mass manufacturing can commence.
