Ukraine accelerates domestic arms production amid Patriot manufacturing delays

Ukraine is increasing domestic weapons development as it faces prolonged delays in expanding its air defense capabilities against ongoing Russian ballistic missile strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that setting up local manufacturing for U.S.-licensed Patriot air defense systems will require between one and several years, primarily due to regulatory hurdles and licensing processes.

To bridge this multi-year vulnerability, two Ukrainian enterprises are building indigenous ballistic missiles capable of targeting Russian rear positions. Meanwhile, the military is procuring the "Equalizer" glide bomb kit, created by DG Industry alongside Brave1. The system converts standard unguided bombs into precision munitions for Soviet-designed fighters, reducing immediate reliance on foreign hardware.
