Ukraine is accelerating domestic arms production to address severe shortages of Western air defense systems amid intensified Russian ballistic missile strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that two local companies are developing indigenous ballistic missiles, though manufacturing faces technical obstacles. Additionally, establishing licensed local production of American Patriot defense systems is expected to take between one and several years due to bureaucratic delays.

To mitigate immediate operational gaps, Ukrainian forces are acquiring the "Equalizer" glide bomb kit, developed by DG Industry with Brave1 support. The kit converts conventional unguided munitions into precision-guided weapons compatible with both Soviet-era and Western aircraft. Despite these advances, defense analysts warn that Ukraine remains exposed to a prolonged period of vulnerability against ballistic attacks while domestic production scales up.
