Turkish rights groups report monthly figures on gender-based violence

Rights monitors in Turkey published August 2026 statistics on gender-based violence, recording dozens of femicides and injuries across the country.
Rights monitoring organisations in Turkey have published updated records detailing gender-based violence across the country during August 2026.
Data compiled by independent news outlet Bianet recorded that men killed at least 25 women and injured 71 others in August. The monitoring also tracked physical assaults, threats, and ongoing investigations into suspicious fatalities.
Separately, newspaper Cumhuriyet reported figures from the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, which documented 22 femicides and 33 suspicious deaths of women. The NGO noted that 55% of the victims were killed inside their homes, mostly by spouses or male acquaintances. Motives could not be determined in 16 cases, while others were linked to personal decisions or financial pretexts.
