Turkish rights groups released August 2026 gender violence data as a Siirt court accepted an indictment against five suspects in a solved 2024 murder case.

Turkish rights monitoring groups released violence statistics for August 2026, alongside reports of progress in a major regional criminal case.

According to figures compiled by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were murdered and 33 others died under suspicious circumstances during August, with over half killed in their homes. Separately, media monitoring by human rights outlet Bianet documented at least 25 women killed and 71 injured over the same monthly period.

Concurrently, legal authorities in Siirt announced that the 1st High Criminal Court accepted an indictment charging five individuals in connection with the October 2024 disappearance and death of a mother of four. Prosecutors solved the case using digital footprints, phone records, and surveillance data, filing charges against the victim's former husband, former brother-in-law, former father-in-law, and two additional suspects.
