Turkish opposition leader Özgür Özel criticized the AKP's takeover of Üsküdar district and clarified Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş's administrative meeting with President Erdoğan.

Özgür Özel, leader of Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), has criticized the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) following a council vote that transferred control of Istanbul’s Üsküdar district to the AKP. Speaking at a public rally in Üsküdar and on Koza TV, Özel described the process as anti-democratic and a violation of local voters' will. Addressing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Özel questioned the government’s commitment to democratic standards.

Additionally, Özel clarified a recent meeting between Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş and President Erdoğan. He explained that the discussions focused on administrative matters and were intended to resolve municipal obstacles affecting public services in the capital.
