Trump expresses confidence in potential Ukraine peace deal after talks with Zelensky

US President Donald Trump stated he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine, following a phone conversation between the two leaders. Trump made the remarks after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who described their dialogue as "positive and productive."

Both leaders expressed a desire to see hostilities conclude before the upcoming winter. Zelensky noted that Washington and Kyiv share the objective of stopping the conflict, suggesting peace could be achieved in the coming months. Meanwhile, Trump called on both Ukraine and Russia to negotiate terms, emphasizing that progress relies on mutual willingness to reach a settlement.

"He wants a deal, and if Zelensky wants a deal, that would be great," Trump said regarding his call with Putin.
