Trump urges Zelensky and Putin to reach deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an agreement to end the war in Ukraine before winter.

Speaking after a telephone conversation with Putin and an in-person meeting with Zelensky, Trump stated he believes the Russian leader seeks a resolution, remarking, "He wants a deal." Trump emphasized that both leaders must agree to terms to halt the fighting.

Zelensky described his meeting with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping hostilities before the winter season. Ukrainian leadership indicated that the conflict could potentially draw to a close within the coming months, while Trump reiterated that direct talks between Kyiv and Moscow remain crucial.
