Trump expresses confidence in potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a settlement to end the war before winter. Following discussions with both leaders, Trump stated that he believes Putin is seeking an agreement with Kyiv.

Zelensky characterized his recent meeting with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of halting Russian hostilities in the coming months. He added that the end of the conflict could be near. Trump emphasized that while he agrees with Zelensky on multiple issues, both sides must commit to direct negotiations to resolve the war.
