Negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz face hurdles as the US demands a swift reopening while Iran insists on sanction relief and security concessions.

Negotiations over the strategic Strait of Hormuz continue amid conflicting rhetoric between Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump stated that discussions are progressing constructively, indicating the vital waterway could reopen soon while reiterating warnings of forceful military action if an agreement fails to materialize.

Conversely, Iranian officials maintain that the passage will remain closed until the United States lifts oil sanctions, ends maritime blockades, unfreezes assets, and stops regional military operations. While Tehran reported reaching an agreement with Oman on a safe maritime transit route, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders cautioned that they are modernizing defensive doctrines and preparing strategic responses against American forces.
