Negotiations mediated by Oman over the Strait of Hormuz continue as Donald Trump signals a possible deal, while Iran insists on US concessions before reopening the waterway.

Negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding safe transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz have progressed, though a final pact has not yet been concluded. US President Donald Trump remarked that an agreement could materialize within days, while also framing the standoff as a prolonged strategic process shaped by Iran's economic constraints.

Iranian officials maintained that reopening the critical waterway requires concrete concessions from the United States, including sanctions relief, an end to military threats, and compensation for damages, alongside Iranian oversight of shipping routes.

Concurrently, regional diplomacy continued in Rome as Lebanese and Israeli delegations opened a seventh round of negotiations, coinciding with the UN-reported return of roughly 800,000 displaced Lebanese citizens to the south. Regional shipping tensions also persisted following the sinking of an Indian cargo vessel struck off Yemen.
