Slovenian football figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar reflect on their coaching transitions, club loyalty, and domestic league dynamics.

Former Slovenian international team captain Aleš Čeh and striker Jan Mlakar have offered reflections on their respective careers and the landscape of domestic football.

Čeh, a central figure in Slovenia's historic national team successes under manager Srečko Katanec, discussed his transition into coaching. Following over a decade as Katanec’s assistant—including a seven-year stint working in Asia—Čeh highlighted his enduring affinity for former clubs Olimpija Ljubljana and Grazer AK, while emphasizing his respect for NK Maribor.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar has rejoined NK Maribor for a third spell, aiming to capture a league title with the club. Commenting on rivals Olimpija Ljubljana, Mlakar acknowledged that while Olimpija faces internal difficulties, the team remains a dangerous opponent in direct matchups.
