Former captain Aleš Čeh and forward Jan Mlakar share perspectives on their football careers and the upcoming derby between Maribor and Olimpija.

Slovenian football figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have shared insights regarding their career trajectories and the state of domestic football.

Čeh, a former national team captain, reflected on his transition into coaching after spending over a decade as an assistant to manager Srečko Katanec, which included seven years working in Asia. Despite his history with Olimpija Ljubljana, Čeh maintained respect for rival club NK Maribor.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar has returned to NK Maribor for a third stint, expressing trust in club management as he seeks his first league title with the team. Assessing the upcoming derby, Mlakar observed that although Olimpija is currently facing an institutional crisis, the team remains a potent opponent in head-to-head matches.
