Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar reflect on their careers and the state of Slovenian domestic football as Maribor and Olimpija prepare for competitive league fixtures.

Slovenian football figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have shared insights regarding their career trajectories and the evolving landscape of domestic football in Slovenia.

Čeh, the former national team captain during the Srečko Katanec era, outlined his transition into coaching following a playing career across clubs such as Olimpija, Grazer AK, and Maribor. After working alongside Katanec as an assistant coach for more than a decade, including seven years spent in Asian football, Čeh offered perspectives on modern athletic management.

Concurrently, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar discussed his third spell at Maribor. Despite his Ljubljana roots, Mlakar expressed confidence in Maribor's management structure while noting that derby matches against a struggling Olimpija remain unpredictable and competitive.
