Russia expands mobilization readiness as Western planners prepare for prolonged conflict

Speculation regarding a potential new wave of military mobilization in Russia is intensifying following regional military exercises and legislative updates. Technical systems, including an electronic military register and updated employer reservation protocols, have been established alongside drills in areas such as Kaliningrad testing conscript processing and housing.

Although Russian President Vladimir Putin has not formally ordered a draft, mounting financial incentives for voluntary recruits and significant battlefield losses exert continuous pressure on military manpower. Analysts suggest that upcoming operations targetting Sloviansk and Kramatorsk may further necessitate additional personnel. Western defense officials anticipate that hostilities could remain intense and persist through 2027, with any official decision on mobilization likely deferred until after the September State Duma elections.
