Romania's Social Democratic Party has voted to join a coalition government under Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu, taking 11 of 17 cabinet posts.

Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD) has formally voted to join a new government under Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu. The decision, approved by the party's leadership, assigns the PSD 11 of the 17 ministerial portfolios, with the remaining six posts designated for technocrats.

Party leader Sorin Grindeanu presented ten policy priorities for the proposed administration, framing the decision as necessary to resolve national political deadlock and address pressing economic concerns. Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) confirmed it will support the coalition during the vote of confidence without holding executive seats. Niculescu is expected to present his complete cabinet list and government program to parliament on Thursday.
