Romania's Social Democratic Party has voted to join a new government under Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu, taking 11 ministerial portfolios.

Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD) has formally agreed to enter a coalition government led by Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu. Under the agreement, the PSD will assume control of 11 of the 17 executive portfolios, while six positions are reserved for technocrats.

PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu outlined ten core priorities for the incoming administration, framing the coalition as a step to break political deadlock and address fiscal challenges. Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) confirmed it will back the new government during parliament's vote of confidence, though it will not hold any ministerial positions.

Prime Minister-designate Niculescu is scheduled to present his complete cabinet lineup and official policy program to parliament on Thursday.
