Romanian medical experts urge national security council intervention as pediatric vaccination rates drop below safe levels amid rising misinformation.

Romanian medical professionals are calling on the country's Supreme Council for National Defence to address sharply declining childhood immunisation rates. Dr Gindrovel Dumitra, coordinator of the vaccinology group at the National Society of Family Medicine, stated that pediatric vaccination coverage in Romania has fallen significantly below safe critical thresholds.

Speaking in an interview with G4Media, Dumitra warned that distorted public perceptions regarding vaccine safety are directly leading to preventable deaths. He urged high-level state intervention, arguing that safeguarding public health represents a fundamental element of national defence and population protection. Healthcare advocates are pushing for a unified national strategy to combat anti-vaccine misinformation and rebuild public trust in routine pediatric immunization programs.
