Romanian official urges defense council action on falling child vaccination rates

A leading Romanian medical official warned that childhood vaccination rates have fallen past critical thresholds, urging the national defense council to treat public health as a national security issue.
Childhood immunization levels in Romania have dropped well below safety thresholds, posing a growing public health threat that is costing human lives, according to a prominent medical official.
Dr. Gindrovel Dumitra, vaccinology coordinator for the National Society of Family Medicine, warned that distorted public perceptions regarding vaccine safety are fueling the decline. Speaking to G4Media, Dumitra recommended that Romania's Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) step in to address the crisis. He argued that public health directly correlates with national security, requiring high-level state coordination to rebuild trust and elevate vaccination coverage across the country.
