Dr. Gindrovel Dumitra warns that Romania's declining pediatric vaccination rates pose severe public health risks, calling on the national defense council to intervene.

Childhood immunization rates in Romania have fallen below critical safety levels, according to Dr. Gindrovel Dumitra, head of the vaccinology group at the National Society of Family Medicine. Dumitra warned that misperceptions regarding vaccine safety are leading to preventable childhood deaths and urged high-level state intervention.

Speaking in an interview, Dumitra called on Romania's Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) to address the decline, arguing that public health protection is directly tied to national defense. Medical experts are pushing for coordinated government action to combat anti-vaccine disinformation, rebuild public trust, and raise pediatric vaccination coverage back to safe thresholds across the country.
