A Romanian medical expert warns that declining childhood vaccination rates have passed a critical threshold, calling on the national defense council to intervene.

Childhood vaccination coverage in Romania has dropped significantly below recommended thresholds, posing a growing threat to public health. Speaking to G4Media, Dr. Gindrovel Dumitra, coordinator of the vaccinology group at the National Society of Family Medicine, stated that the critical threshold "has long been exceeded."

Dumitra highlighted that widespread public misperceptions regarding immunization safety are directly contributing to preventable child fatalities. To address the crisis, he urged Romania's Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) to intervene. Dumitra argued that deteriorating public health directly affects population security and national defense, requiring a coordinated national effort to rebuild public confidence and improve immunization rates nationwide.
