Poland marks Armed Forces Day with military parades and defense pledges
Poland celebrated Armed Forces Day with major parades in Warsaw and Gdynia, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk outlined key pillars for national security and defense growth.
Poland commemorated Polish Armed Forces Day on 15 August with nationwide celebrations, featuring a major military parade in Warsaw and a naval demonstration in Gdynia. The events honored the country's victory in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw.
Speaking at the naval display in Gdynia after visiting the PGZ Naval Shipyard, Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared Poland's ambition to become a "maritime power." Inspecting construction of the frigate Wicher under the Miecznik program, Tusk stated that avoiding war requires national strength. He highlighted four core pillars of security: secure borders, strong international alliances, military investments, and a growing economy.
Military officials, including Chief of the General Staff General Wiesław Kukuła and Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda, confirmed that armed forces reached full readiness for the observances.
