Poland celebrates Armed Forces Day with military parades and security pledges

Poland marked Armed Forces Day with nationwide celebrations commemorating the 1920 Battle of Warsaw. The observances featured a major military parade in Warsaw showcasing troops, armored vehicles, and aircraft, alongside a naval demonstration in Gdynia.

Speaking at the naval event in Gdynia, Prime Minister Donald Tusk outlined four primary pillars of national security: secure borders, firm alliances, sustained defense spending, and economic growth. Tusk emphasized that deterrence remains essential to maintaining peace, stating that "war will only be avoided by someone who is strong."

Additionally, Tusk visited the PGZ Naval Shipyard to inspect progress on the frigate Wicher, constructed under the Miecznik program to enhance Poland's maritime defenses. Military leadership, including Chief of General Staff General Wiesław Kukuła, confirmed full operational readiness following preliminary rehearsals.
