Poland celebrates Armed Forces Day with major military parades

Poland celebrated Armed Forces Day with nationwide events marking the 1920 Battle of Warsaw anniversary. The observances were highlighted by a large military parade in Warsaw featuring troops, armored vehicles, and aircraft, alongside naval demonstrations off the coast of Gdynia.

Addressing attendees in Gdynia, Prime Minister Donald Tusk reiterated four pillars of national defense: robust borders, firm international alliances, increased defense spending, and a growing economy. Tusk stressed that strong deterrence remains essential for peace, remarking, "war will only be avoided by someone who is strong." During a visit to the PGZ Naval Shipyard, Tusk also reviewed progress on the frigate Wicher, constructed under the Miecznik program to strengthen Poland's Baltic maritime defenses.
