Norwegian police have closed the investigation into last year's fatal Hamar fire without finding a cause, as a separate house fire in Vennesla leaves one dead.

Norwegian prosecutors have formally closed the investigation into a fatal residential fire in Hamar that killed four young women last September. Innlandet Police District confirmed the case was dropped after forensic teams were unable to determine the cause of the blaze, which occurred during a social gathering.

Following the announcement, family members of the victims, including Astrid Støe Valla's mother, shared public accounts of their grief and efforts to cope with the loss.

Meanwhile, emergency services responded early Wednesday to a separate fatal fire in a terraced house in Vennesla, Agder. Authorities confirmed one person died at the scene, while neighboring residents were evacuated as firefighters contained the flames. Crime scene technicians have begun examining the site to ascertain what triggered the Vennesla incident.
