Norwegian prosecutors have closed the Hamar fatal fire investigation without establishing a cause, while police in Agder investigate a separate fatal house fire in Vennesla.

Norwegian authorities have officially closed the investigation into a fatal house fire in Hamar that claimed the lives of four young women last September. Innlandet Police District confirmed state prosecutors dropped the case after forensic investigators were unable to determine what caused the blaze during a social gathering. Following the decision, relatives, including the mother of victim Astrid Støe Valla, spoke publicly about their loss and ongoing process of grieving.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, emergency services responded to a fatal fire in a terraced house in Vennesla, Agder. One person died at the scene despite rescue efforts, while neighboring residents were safely evacuated. Crime scene technicians have initiated an investigation into the cause of the Vennesla fire.
