Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda called for calm after extra troops deployed to the Russian border, emphasizing preventive security, defense gaps, and infrastructure readiness.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has urged the public to remain calm following the deployment of additional military forces along the border with Russia, calling precautionary measures vital for risk prevention. Addressing national security challenges, Nausėda acknowledged gaps in Lithuania's air defense capabilities and noted delays in joint drone manufacturing projects with Ukraine.

The president also raised concerns over internal friction within the defense establishment, warning that recent controversies involving the Ministry of National Defence could cause long-term reputational damage. Additionally, he highlighted lessons learned from recent severe storms that exposed critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, while stressing the need for timely emergency preparation. Nausėda remarked that "sometimes it is better to observe even excessive caution" rather than reacting after an incident occurs.
