Talks between Kosovo's acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku failed to yield an agreement on the presidency ahead of Thursday's parliamentary session.

Kosovo's acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, leader of the Self-Determination Movement (LVV), and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Lumir Abdixhiku failed for a third time on Wednesday to reach an agreement on forming new institutions.

The unannounced negotiations in the Assembly took place following an LDK parliamentary group meeting, where lawmakers insisted that securing the presidency is necessary to maintain a balance of power within the government. Tensions earlier in the legislative session prompted LVV to withdraw the presidential candidacy of Glauk Konjufca in search of a consensus candidate.

Following the talks, Kurti told reporters that "we have no news as long as we have no agreement." Parliament is scheduled to hold a constitutive session on Thursday as negotiations continue.
