Talks between Kosovo's acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku failed to yield an agreement on forming institutions and electing a president.

Kosovo's political leadership failed once again to secure an agreement on establishing new state institutions during talks on Wednesday. Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, head of the Self-Determination Movement (LVV), met with Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Lumir Abdixhiku following an LDK parliamentary caucus meeting in the Assembly.

The impasse centers on the election of the country's president. LVV previously withdrew the candidacy of Glauk Konjufca in an effort to find a consensus candidate. However, LDK lawmakers maintain that controlling the presidency is necessary to balance power. Speaking after the unannounced meeting, Kurti confirmed, "we have no news as long as we have no agreement." Parliament is scheduled to hold a constitutive session on Thursday as negotiations continue.
