Iran adopted an offensive strategy following stalled peace talks with the US, while American forces struck five Iranian oil tankers following attacks on a US warship.

Iran has adopted a "completely offensive" military posture following the breakdown of peace negotiations with the United States, Iranian officials confirmed. The announcement occurred as a 60-day memorandum of understanding signed in June expired without a permanent peace deal. Iranian armed forces stated they would not relent until securing the "complete defeat" of US forces in the region.

Following the diplomatic impasse, Washington announced it will not extend the temporary ceasefire agreement. Tensions escalated further in regional maritime corridors after US Central Command reported striking five Iranian oil tankers, sinking one vessel, in retaliation for Iranian strikes against an American warship. Analysts warn that growing economic pressures and direct naval clashes near the Strait of Hormuz significantly elevate the threat of a wider conflict.
