Tehran claims to have hit six vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, while US President Trump maintains the waterway remains open.

Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain critical as Tehran claimed responsibility for targeting six vessels, including three commercial oil tankers and three US military craft, alongside launching missiles toward an American aircraft carrier. An onboard fire on one of the commercial tankers was subsequently contained by emergency crews.

Despite the strikes, US President Donald Trump stated that the strategic shipping lane remains open and asserted that Iran is in "great difficulty." However, intelligence reports from Washington indicate that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps feels emboldened and may further intensify the conflict.

The renewed hostilities follow the collapse of a 14-point memorandum of understanding and ceasefire signed in June, which unraveled after American strikes resumed in July.
